Vandal or Phantom? A Guide to Valorant's Main Rifles

The core difference

  • Vandal: a headshot kills at any range; heavy recoil, mostly straight and then jumping
  • Phantom: 140 to the head (one shot up close, two at range); faster fire rate, less recoil, quieter, and no tracer ping on the enemy minimap

How to choose

  • High headshot rate, comfortable tracking a line: Vandal
  • Close-range sprays and suppressive fire: Phantom
  • Long-sight maps (Ascent, Breeze): the Vandal's one-tap wins more
  • Tight, corner-heavy maps (Split, Haven): the Phantom is steadier

Consistency beats everything

Stick to one rifle. Switching means relearning the recoil pattern. Even pros rarely swap.

Sidearms

Vandal pairs well with a Sheriff for economy-round one-taps; Phantom pairs with a Ghost up close.

Do not ask which is stronger — ask where your first bullet lands. Whoever holds the head line wins with either.
